Transport Minister Kazem Fangan announced on Sunday that the US Aviation Administration and the companies accompanying them are flying US planes over Iraqi airspace after announcing the final victory over criminal gangs.

[ltr]"The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reduced the flight warning to 26,000 feet after the announcement of victory and the end of military operations in Iraq," a ministry statement quoted Fenjan as saying.[/ltr]

"Reducing the warning will allow US aircraft, US-registered aircraft and other airlines with them to resume flights in Iraqi airspace again," he said.[/ltr]

He stressed that "the announcement by the US Aviation Administration to resume flights over the Iraqi airspace will be an incentive for countries of the world and the region to follow suit," pointing out that "the Iraqi airspace is open to international airlines."[/ltr]

The move came after Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced on Saturday the complete and final victory over criminal gangs[/ltr]
