The Sunday Times newspaper published a Sunday edition of an article entitled "A Wedding Image that Calls into question Qatar's links to terrorism."
The article, written by Edward Malnick, the political editor of the newspaper, said that Qatar faces new questions questioning its campaign against the supporters of terrorism after the presence of Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani as guest of honor at a ceremony for someone described by the article as one of the most famous financiers Terrorism in the world.
According to the article, the Qatari prime minister appeared in the form of Abdul Rahman bin Omair al-Nuaimi, weeks after his government was branded al-Naimi of terrorism financing following a decision in this regard by Britain, the United States and the UN Security Council.
"We will not tolerate ... those who support terrorism and finance it," said the president of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, to US President Donald Trump on April 11.
British ministers also welcomed "the Emir of Qatar's pledge to combat terrorism in all its forms, including the financing of terrorism."
This raises doubts about Qatar's claims that it will not tolerate the financiers of terrorism as it seeks to end the blockade imposed by neighboring countries that accuse it of supporting terrorist groups throughout the region and of being close to Iran as well.
The Qatari government announced on Saturday that Sheikh Abdullah attended the wedding at the personal invitation of the bridegroom, who described him as "a government employee in Qatar and a young man."
The Qatari government communications agency said the prime minister would continue to support the good work of his staff and would not avoid family affairs because a person is being prosecuted in a case that may be in attendance.
The Qatari government says al-Nuaimi has been frozen assets and money and prevented travel since 2015, and investigators are gathering evidence to "build a new case" against him after his release last month "for lack of evidence" after spending eight months in prison.
The article reviews the historical background of Trump's description of the oil-rich Gulf state as "funded for terrorism", pulling Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt to its diplomats and cutting off its trade ties with Qatar in 2017.
In March, Qatar announced, amid international pressure, those it described as supporters of terrorism, including al-Nuaimi, nearly five years after being classified as a supporter of terrorism in the United States.
After assurances from the Emir of Qatar during his recent visit to the White House on April 9, Trump said the Emir of Qatar had become a "big supporter" of the fight against terrorist financing.
The article says that only two days after this Trump statement, Sheikh Abdullah attended the wedding of Ibn al-Nuaimi in Doha.
A photo of her posting on social networking sites showed a photographer who attended the wedding Sheikh Abdullah Yahya al-Aris and his father looking at the background of the photo.
In other photos published in Qatar's Al-Raya newspaper, the father and son appear in separate pictures with Sheikh Abdullah and Khaled Meshaal, the leader of the Palestinian Hamas movement, which the United States classifies as terrorist groups, the article said.
The article says al-Nuaimi, who was an adviser to the Qatari government, is accused of sending more than $ 1 million a month to al Qaeda militants in Iraq. The Treasury Department has listed him as a terrorist in 2013. He is accused by the ministry of funding the number From violent jihadist groups, including al-Qaeda in Iraq, as well as al-Shabab in Somalia and other groups in the Middle East.
The ministry says Naimi oversaw the transfer of $ 1.25 million a month to al-Qaeda in Iraq and disclosed that he had transferred $ 375,000 to a group linked to al Qaeda in Syria. Al-Naimi denies the charges against him.
