BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A senior Iraqi politician and former deputy of the State of Law coalition, Izzat Shabandar, confirmed Wednesday that there was "a near-definite desire" to prevent the Dawa party from taking over as prime minister.
"There is a clear and unambiguous desire that the Dawa Party should not be prime minister because it has tried three times and has no right to remain," Shabandar said in remarks published by the Saudi daily Al-Hayat.
Shabandar added that "the reference stands at a distance from everyone and interfere with the general guidance and urge the election of the best."
"There is no political list for the crowd, but there are mass parties that have left armed action and gone to politics, and this is a guaranteed right in all countries of the world," Shabandar said. Ending / 25
