assured the Russian ambassador in Tel Aviv Anatoly Viktorov, that control of the Syrian border with Israel will be only for the Syrian regular army will not exist there are foreign formations, especially Iranian or allied to them.

"There is an agreement on the non-deployment of troops on Israel's borders from the Syrian side other than the regular forces of the Syrian army," the Russian ambassador said in an interview with Channel 10 television.

"The priority is to ensure Israel's security, and this is not just talk about Russian foreign policy," he said

Israel fears the presence of Iranian troops and armed forces under its control on its northern border with Syria .

"We agreed that on the other side of the border there will be only units of the Syrian regular army, the priority is to ensure the security of the State of Israel , these are not empty words of Russian foreign policy," the diplomat said.

"There should be no non-Syrian forces in the southern region to reduce the escalation."

But Ambassador Victorov considered Israel's request to withdraw Iranian troops from all Syrian territory unrealistic under current circumstances.

Victorov called for the full implementation of the 1974 Agreement on the Separation of Forces, which presupposes the existence of an intersection between Israel and Syria in demilitarized zones in whole or in part, with a United Nations peacekeeping force there.

"We want to see all the terms of the agreement in force."

The Israelis began to talk about the need to strictly abide by the agreement reached 44 years ago, when the Syrian government forces launched an offensive against the opposition fighters and the "Victory Front" militants who were based on large parts of the Syrian border with the occupied Golan.
