    Iraq participated in the 10 th Ordinary Session of the Executive Bureau of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, organized by the Media and Communication Sector of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States , hosted by the Ministry of Information of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, For conferences in the capital Riyadh.

    The delegation of the Republic of Iraq represented the Media and Communications Authority with the participation of the Board of Trustees Khalil Al-Tayyar and Asaad Nabil Mohammad Ali from the Audiovisual Department.

    • The meeting was chaired by Minister of Information Turki bin Abdullah Al-Shabbana, who praised the participation of Information Ministers and their counterparts in the Executive Office and welcomed them in an opening speech in which they wished success and reached decisions that contribute to enhancing joint Arab media work within the framework of the League of Arab States.



    The meeting was also attended by Assistant Secretary General of the League of Arab States, Head of Information and Communication Sector Badr Al-Din Al-Alali and Director General of the Secretariat of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Information Ministers Fawzi Al-Ghwail.

    The meeting was attended by members of the Executive Council of the Council of Arab Ministers of Information for Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Tunisia, Somalia, the Sudan and Egypt. The meeting also included the participation of federations and organizations practicing media functions within the framework of the Council of Ministers Arab Media.

    This regular meeting was devoted to the ratification of the resolutions and recommendations adopted by the representatives of the member states at the meeting of the Standing Arab Committee (92), which discussed 13 items related to activating the joint Arab media work.

    The pilot said that "the meeting included a number of recommendations previously to the Iraqi delegation that requested their adoption in the working paper presented at the meeting of the Standing Committee."

    The most important of these was the role of the media in tackling the phenomenon of terrorism. Iraq's request to reactivate the text of the resolution issued by the 44th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Information (S / 376- D / 44- 15/1/2013) He gave approval to host Iraq to the Arab Observatory to follow up the media coverage of the phenomenon of terrorism, its demand to end its establishment, to resolve its administrative structure, to appoint its cadres and to carry out its tasks, and to send a report every six months to the Technical General Directorate of the Council of Arab Information Ministers. And its Executive Office.

    As for the item related to the implementation of the decisions of the Council of the League at the summit level and at the ministerial level, Iraq has made a decision calling on the ministries of information and concerned parties in the Member States to start a promotional campaign and organize seminars to highlight the importance of Arab water security in the stability of the peoples of the countries of the region and focus On the justice of the Iraqi demands to obtain appropriate water releases to save the Iraqi environment from drought and desertification and the negative effects on the aquatic, plant and animal life.

    On the follow-up item to the plan of Arab media action abroad, the Executive Office made a special recommendation to the Republic of Iraq to commit to pay 10% of its share of the budget of the Arab media action plan abroad. Iraq also achieved a resolution calling for activation.

    It also approved the proposal of Iraq to adopt criteria to support the choice of naming Arab capitals to crown the capitals of the media strengthens the ability to give them confidence in the decision in addition to the media capital Daraa to the next city as an annual tradition in the process of delivery and delivery to the capital of Arab media and praise of what Iraq achieved in the events crowned capital Baghdad for the year 2017-2018.

    On the sidelines of the meeting, Iraq's ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Qahtan al-Janabi, met with the delegation of the Communications and Information Authority. He praised the effectiveness of his participation in the Arab meetings and expressed his desire to strengthen the cooperation frameworks between the media and communications and the embassy, ​​and their contribution in activating the programs of the joint coordination committee between Iraq and Saudi Arabia. And communication.
