    In the north east of [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] a suicide bomber drove a truck packed with explosives into security checkpoint killing six soldiers and three civilians.

    A roadside bomb targeted Sunni deputy Salim al-Jubouri in the capital, the politician escaped but two of his bodyguards were killed with seven others wounded.

    No one has claimed responsibility for the carnage, but the violence bears all the hallmarks of an al Qaeda breakaway group, according to authorities.
