Agriculture calls for strict control at the customs points to apply the import ban of 14 crops

The Ministry of Agriculture called on Thursday to tighten controls at customs points to enforce the import ban on 14 crops.
"It was decided to ban the importation of a number of agricultural crops due to the abundance of their production in local markets and to support the local produce and the planned agricultural calendar," the ministry said in a statement received by the economy.
"The list of crops currently banned from importation includes tomatoes, cucumbers, potatoes, eggplants, cloves, cauliflower, carrots, lettuce, lettuce, broccoli, melons, fresh garlic, trees and yellow corn."
"The import of these crops will be opened at the end of the domestic production season in addition to crops listed under the Agricultural Quarantine Law," she said.
"This decision comes in order to preserve the local product and to encourage farmers and farmers to continue production."
The ministry called on all border ports, including the ports belonging to the Kurdistan region, to "tighten controls at customs points to prevent the entry of agricultural products outside the procedures of fundamental imports."
