    Today, Monday, the Ministry of Agriculture discussed preparing a draft of the national strategy for food security in Iraq in its final form for the period (2022-2030).
    In a statement received by the National News Center, the ministry stated that "the Supreme National Committee for Food Security held a meeting at the ministry's headquarters, headed by the technical representative of the Ministry of Agriculture, Vice-Chairman of the Committee Mithaq Abdul-Hussein, and in the presence of members of the committee, representatives of the ministries (agriculture, planning, trade, water resources, Industry and Minerals, Health and Environment, and National Security Advisory).
    The statement added, "During the meeting, the discussion of the previous meeting's paragraphs was completed and a number of topics and paragraphs included in its agenda, including the discussion of the draft national strategy for food security in Iraq in its final form for the period (2022-2030), and the most important requirements for holding the workshop for presenting the draft strategy, which is to be held later. And discussed the draft memorandum of understanding on food security reserves in the Islamic Cooperation countries, and preparing for the most prominent plans and activities that the committee will implement in the coming period.
    During the meeting, the undersecretary indicated to “the great importance that the committee and the Ministry of Agriculture attach to the file of food security in Iraq, as it affects the citizen and the national security of the country,” noting the work to “implement it on the ground in the near future and according to the terms of reference and with the contribution of the supporting authorities and ministries, which would enable the Facing challenges related to food security in the country.
    The statement added, "This strategy is the first of its kind, which will determine the paths of food security in Iraq to ensure the achievement of sustainable food security for the Iraqi citizen."
