On Thursday, a member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Ayoub Ahmed, revealed the existence of leaked news that the Kurdistan Democratic Party has withdrawn its candidate for the presidency, Hoshyar Zebari.
Ahmed said in statements to the "Information" agency, "There are suggestions from Erbil that the Kurdistan Democratic Party will withdraw its candidate for the presidency, Hoshyar Zebari, after they obtained leaks from the court about Zebari's refusal."
He added, "The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan will go ahead with its candidate, Barham Salih, and we do not have any understandings or agreements with the Kurdistan Democratic Party."
The Federal Court has set, next Sunday, the date for pleading the case against accepting the election of Hoshyar Zebari for the presidency.
