Today, Saturday, the Ministry of Electricity announced the restart of the system in Basra, Maysan and Dhi Qar, after an almost complete interruption on Friday.

The ministry's spokesman, Ahmed Moussa, told Alsumaria News, "The whole system has been restored with all its transmission lines and obstetric units in Basra, Maysan and Dhi Qar, which were separated last night to work."

Last night, Friday night, a spokesman for the Ministry of Electricity, Ahmed Moussa, told Alsumaria News, "The accident is technically an explosion in one of the circuit breakers and the current transformer (C.t) from the side of the 132KV Creek line due to high temperatures and increased loads."

He pointed out that "the scene of the accident was isolated and the separated lines and units returned to work, respectively."

And social networking sites had circulated news that: "The gas station for electric power in Basra is now burning and out of service without knowing the reasons."

The governorates of Basra, Dhi Qar and Maysan are witnessing a complete power outage.

And the Dhi Qar Electricity Distribution Branch said, in a statement received by Alsumaria News, that "a general shutdown occurred in a number of southern governorates, including Dhi Qar, and we have not yet been able to know the reasons."

For its part, the Maysan Electricity Distribution Branch indicated, in a statement received by Alsumaria News, that "a complete shutdown in the entire governorate of Maysan at exactly eleven and fifteen minutes in the evening, with other southern governorates, and we have not yet been able to know the reasons."
