The Ministry of Electricity is preparing to receive the winter season with satisfactory processing hours, mobilizing the efforts of its cadres, as it confirmed that the equipment is almost complete in all governorates.
The Ministry of Electricity’s annual budget is about $10 billion, while the Ministry of Electricity confirmed its need for $22 billion in the 2021 budget. However, the House of Representatives reduced the ministry’s share to less than half to limit its share to only $10 billion, at a time when the Ministry of Electricity says that it is « You need 20 trillion dinars annually (less than 20 billion dollars) to buy gas and energy and to perform maintenance on electrical stations.” A spokesman for the Ministry of Electricity, Ahmed Moussa, says that his ministry "has issued directives to all companies operating in its headquarters, to prepare for receiving peak winter loads." Moussa added, "The ministry's preparations for the winter season have begun," stressing "the necessity of introducing obstetric units into an intensive program, whether periodic or emergency maintenance, even with regard to exchanging spare parts so that these units are ready to operate at their full capacity, with the peak winter loads."

Moussa pointed out, “There are strict directives for the distribution sector to fully mobilize to rehabilitate the distribution networks, remove bottlenecks and strengthen the networks, in addition to setting up fixed and mobile stations in the load centers to accommodate the increased hours of electricity supply, as well as directing the control centers to ensure the fairness of the distribution, and to be concerned with balancing the loads. “. He explained, "The equipment is almost integrated in all governorates, and there is no crisis now," noting that "the ministry will complete what it started with plans during the previous years." Moussa stressed, "A lot of projects have entered into work now, in Dhi Qar, Diyala, Wasit and Diwaniyah." The Minister of Electricity, Ziad Ali Fadel, after taking over the ministry, directed all engineering, technical and craftsmen and fully automated efforts to confront the possibility of bad weather and rain.
