Today, Saturday, the Ministry of Water Resources confirmed that the wave of rain in the country secured the first irrigation of the winter agricultural season, while it indicated that it would study the country's water situation during the next two days.
"The ministry is trying to exploit some of the torrents coming from the eastern borders towards Lake Hamrin and the main rivers," said the official spokesman for the Ministry of Water Resources, Ali Radi, in a press statement, pointing out that "the rainfall in the northern part of the country will contribute to enhancing water storage."
He added, "The ministry focuses on directing rainwater to areas affected by water scarcity, represented in the marshes, in addition to securing the first irrigation of the winter season, pushing the salty tongue in Basra, and feeding agricultural lands in the southern governorates," noting that "there is a major focus on securing water for the marshes." He continued, "Part of the falling rainwater will be used to enhance water storage," noting that "the ministry will review the water situation after the rain falls during the next two days."
Yesterday, the country witnessed rain in a number of governorates, especially the northern ones, which caused torrential rains.
