The Parliamentary Investment and Development Committee warned today, Saturday, of the possibility of the collapse of new buildings, while criticizing the "dispersion" of the committees that were formed to examine the buildings.
Last Sunday, the collapse of a building under construction in Baghdad left a number of workers trapped under the rubble for a long time.
The second deputy head of the committee, Hussein Al-Sabri, said in an interview with the official newspaper, which was followed by Mawazine News, that "the committees that were formed to examine the buildings are many from the Ministry of Labor and Health and the Integrity Commission, not to mention the committees of civil society organizations."
And he considered that "the presence of this number of committees leads to the dispersion of work," adding that he submitted, more than once, "to the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament regarding unifying the work of these committees in order to find out the reality of the buildings' condition."
In October of last year, the building of the National Laboratory for Pathological Analysis in the Karrada district of central Baghdad collapsed, causing casualties and injuries. Ended 29/N33
