The economic advisor to the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mazhar Muhammad Salih, confirmed, on Monday, that the salaries of the Kurdistan Region are part of the salaries of the Iraqi people.
Mazhar Muhammad Salih said in an interview with Kurdistan 24, "What was agreed upon between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government will be reflected in the budget," stressing that "the budget will be applied as it is legislated."
He added, "The salaries of the Kurdistan Region are part of the salaries of the Iraqi people," stressing that "the people of the Kurdistan Region are our people."
And he expressed his belief that "what will be approved in the budget will be implemented as agreed upon after its legislation by the House of Representatives," noting that "sending the salaries of the Kurdistan Region is a national, moral and humanitarian issue."
He pointed out that "the government of Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani reached an agreement with all transparency and clarity with the Kurdistan Regional Government," explaining that "the region went through testing stages and had apprehensions from 2015 to today."
And he continued, "I imagine we have reached a positive point - the point of no return," pointing out that "things are going better for the interest of the region and the interest of Iraq as a whole."
On the fourth of April, in the presence of the President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, and the Iraqi Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani, Erbil and Baghdad signed an agreement to resume oil exports through the Iraqi Oil Marketing Company (SOMO).
On the sixth of this April, the Iraqi Council of Representatives completed the first reading of the draft federal budget law for the fiscal years (2023, 2024, 2025), in the presence of 235 deputies.
Earlier, the Iraqi government announced that it had handed over the draft financial budget law for a period of three years to Parliament, while Parliament confirmed its receipt and the start of the necessary discussions in preparation for its approval.
The government spokesman, Basem Al-Awadi, said in a statement, “In implementation of the provisions of the constitution and the federal financial management law, the draft federal budget law for the Republic of Iraq for the fiscal years 2023, 2024, and 2025 was officially handed over to the House of Representatives.”
He added that “the draft budget law, including new articles and paragraphs that were approved for the first time, is capable of facilitating the implementation of executive and development projects, plans and programs, and the provision of infrastructure and services for citizens.”
