    Baghdad today - Erbil
Today, Monday, the leader of the Kurdistan Justice Group, Rebwar Muhammad Amin, described the situation in the Kurdistan region as "difficult", in the absence of a parliament that performs its duties.
Amin told "Baghdad Today" that "the Kurdistan region is living in a vacuum and a difficult situation, and it is unreasonable not to rush to hold elections to monitor the government and pass the stalled laws that the Kurdish citizen is waiting for."
He added, "It is clear that the ruling parties do not want to hold elections at the present time, because the region's survival without a parliament serves its interests, and gives the region's government the right to dispose of the funds, revenues, and public interests of Kurdistan without referring to Parliament."
And the President of the region, Nechirvan Barzani, had signed an executive order on February 24, 2022, stipulating that the first of October of last year be set as the date for the elections for the sixth session of the Kurdistan Parliament, but it was postponed after the region’s parliament voted last October, on Extending his legislative life and postponing the elections for only one year.
The mandate of the Kurdistan Commission was extended in a session of the regional parliament on May 22, which witnessed sharp differences that amounted to fistfights, between members of the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.
And the region’s presidency set another date for holding elections on November 18th. After negotiations sponsored by the United Nations Mission in Baghdad and Erbil.
The region has held 5 parliamentary elections so far, the first in 1992 and the last in 2018.
