Shafaq News/ The Minister of Communications in the Iraqi government, Hiyam Al-Yasiri, ruled out, on Wednesday, the possibility of her removal from her position in response to calls from members of the House of Representatives that emerged recently calling for this.
Al-Yasiri said in a statement to Shafaq News Agency correspondent, regarding parliamentary demands and calls for her dismissal, “We continue to serve with our knowledge in the Ministry of Communications and in the field of combating corruption.”
She added that she had issued instructions for the ministry's project contracts in a participatory manner, pointing out that most of the corruption in those contracts takes place in dark rooms, and therefore these contracts are now presented to everyone according to the measures taken.
The minister continued by saying, "Whoever thinks of removing us from office is dreaming of that, and these dreams will not come true."
The demand for the minister’s dismissal emerged from parliamentarian Hanan Al-Fatlawi at the beginning of this October, when she wrote a tweet on the “X” website, “formerly Twitter,” in which she said that Al-Yasiri “is a minister with a socialist mentality who works in a spirit of revenge. She uprooted nearly 500 employees and contributed to the collapse of her ministry’s revenues and the decline.” Iraq's classification on the Internet due to its confusion.
Al-Fatlawi also asked Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani to “urgently change her to save what is left of the ministry,” and also pointed out that the minister is speaking constructively and her party’s representatives are applauding.
The Iraqi Minister of Communications, Hiam Al-Yasiri, responded at the time to Al-Fatlawi’s statements, accusing her of defending “Earthlink Company.” While she confirmed that representatives applauded her warmly after her answers to questions hosted under the dome of Parliament, she accused former Minister Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi of involvement in corruption files.
Al-Yasiri said during a television talk show, summarized by her media office, “It does not mean anything that Hanan Al-Fatlawi wrote a tweet, but the truth is that the majority of representatives were warmly applauding all of my answers regarding the questions that Al-Fatlawi posed in Parliament,” noting that “Hanan Al-Fatlawi asked me a different question.” It is true regarding the exclusion and uprooting of employees, and I asked her to write one book to prove the credibility of her words. I transferred and removed employees involved in large and dangerous corruption files.”
She added, "I was nominated for the position of Minister of Communications by the National Contract Alliance, which is led by Faleh Al-Fayyad and Hanan Al-Fatlawi. The questions expanded and began asking several questions from one question, to turn hosting the oral question into an interrogation, and I answered them with complete accuracy and did not hesitate to reveal the facts."
