Today, Friday (January 5, 2024), the leader of the Shabakiya gathering, Abbas Fadel, called for an emergency parliamentary session of the Iraqi Parliament to be held.
Fadel told "Baghdad Today" that "the escalation represented by the bombing of the headquarters of the Popular Mobilization Forces in Baghdad must be an incentive to expel American forces and implement the decision issued by Parliament in 2020."
He added, "What happened yesterday is no less dangerous than the airport incident. The targeted party is an official body that obeys the orders of the authority and the Iraqi state. Therefore, an emergency session of Parliament was held to expedite a vote on the rapid exit of American forces, and the implementation of this decision by the government directly."
The American side claimed responsibility for the bombing that targeted the headquarters of the Popular Mobilization Forces in Baghdad, killing a number of leaders, including the jihadist aide to the Nujaba Movement, “Abu Taqwa al-Saidi.”
