The scandal of political money and offering bribes to some parties in order for Shaalan Al-Karim to win the presidency of Parliament is no longer a secret to anyone, and everyone knew about this matter, as Al-Halbousi’s candidate was no longer wanted despite political talk about granting huge sums of money in exchange for a candidate. A party that ran for the presidency of Parliament, but the scandal and the sectarian and inflammatory positions of this figure made it far from running, and Al-Halbousi’s party may emerge empty-handed from the race to run for the presidency if the judiciary refuses to cancel the session to elect the Speaker of Parliament, so that the competition remains confined between Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani and Salem Al-Issawi.
Former MP Jassim Al-Bayati said, “The Taqadum Party led by Al-Halbousi may become without a candidate for the presidency of Parliament if the judiciary decides not to cancel the session to elect the Speaker of the House of Representatives, as its candidate Shaalan Al-Karim will lose because of his political positions, as the scandal has become large and clear to everyone and will not Any representative dares to take money in order to go to elect Shaalan the Honorable, as the matter is no longer a secret to anyone, and therefore political money is no longer useful in this matter,” adding that “deciding the presidency of Parliament will be through competition between Salem Al-Issawi and Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani or The Parliament session will be canceled and nominations will be reopened again to choose the Speaker of Parliament.”
On the other hand, independent MP Kazem Al-Touki said, “The person who wants to win the position of Speaker of Parliament must be moderate and capable of ending the crises that the political process is going through, and declare his support for the government, as Parliament does not need a contradictory and anxious personality, as Iraq does not need new political problems, which requires the arrival of a moderate figure, and therefore the Sunni forces must present a moderate figure that is neither sectarian nor racist, and not linked to an external agenda.”
On the other hand, political analyst Qasim Al-Tamimi saw that Al-Halbousi’s candidate for the presidency of Parliament, Shaalan Al-Karim, had fallen politically as a result of his glorification of the dead Baath and incitement to sectarianism in the past periods,” pointing out that Al-Halbousi’s party seeks not to lose the position of Speaker of Parliament, and therefore it seeks to cancel the election session. The president legally requested in order to present another candidate to fill the position, and to seek to resolve the issue politically before heading to the parliament hall.” Ended 25 n[/size]
