The representative of Diyala Governorate, Muhammad Qutaiba, confirmed on Saturday that there are intense negotiations between the political forces to end the political impasse regarding the position of Diyala governor.
Qutaiba told Al-Maalouma, “The political forces in Diyala Governorate are waiting for the coordination framework to nominate an alternative name to the current name, which did not receive full support.”
He added, "The state of political impasse and the lack of agreement on a specific candidate for the position of governor of Diyala led to an option being presented along the lines of Kirkuk Governorate, to meet with the prime minister to resolve the crisis."
The leader of the State of Law Coalition, Jassem Muhammad Jaafar, revealed to Al-Maalouma, an agreement between the head of the Al-Fatah Alliance, Hadi Al-Amiri, and the head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri Al-Maliki, to assign the position to the State of Law, provided that five names are presented to the framework to choose one of them for the position.
