The Iraqi government sends 5,000 students outside the country to obtain master's and doctoral degrees, while the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Kurdistan Region confirms that the region's students will also benefit from these scholarships.
In this regard, Abbas Akram, spokesman for the Ministry of Higher Education in the region, told the official website of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, PUKMEDIA, saying: “Sending these scholarships is a complement to the first stage of the process, as last year 400 students were sent abroad to obtain higher degrees, 48 Some of them were from the Kurdistan Region.
Abbas Akram added: “Wishing students from all Iraqi governorates, including the Kurdistan Region, can submit applications, and those who meet the conditions can benefit from scholarships. Competition will be based on the conditions of the Federal Ministry of Higher Education and not on the basis of the governorates’ share.”
Last year, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the federal government announced 5,000 scholarships abroad, and according to PUKMEDIA’s follow-up, three thousand of them are to the United States of America.
