    Baghdad today - Baghdad 
    Today, Monday (April 29, 2024), the Federal Integrity Commission revealed the existence of a fraud network in the Tax Directorate in Basra Governorate, confirming that it had arrested a director in one of the tax outlets in the governorate.
    The Government Information and Communications Office reported, according to a statement received by “Baghdad Today,” that “the Basra Investigation Directorate’s work team uncovered a fraud network in the Tax Directorate in the governorate,” noting that “the network that operates in the tax assessment unit in the Basra Traffic Directorate - the Vehicle Registration Complex, You approve a false “tax clearance”, without relying on tax accounting.”
    He noted that "the director of the tax port in the directorate was caught red-handed, and in possession of sums of money that he had been receiving in exchange for approving the forged liability declaration," noting that "the operation also resulted in the seizure of preliminary transactions for which tax accounting receipts had not been paid." 
     
    In a related context, the office indicated that “the directorate’s team was able, after carrying out follow-up work, to arrest a person impersonating a social researcher in the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs red-handed and defrauding citizens.”
    He explained, “The accused organizes the researcher’s visit form in exchange for sums of money,” noting that false identities were seized in the possession of the accused, which he used while committing fraud on citizens.
