“Quadruple Summit” regarding the “Development Road” project

Turkish media reported yesterday, Wednesday, that their country, Iraq, the Emirates, and Qatar intend to hold a “four-way ministerial summit” regarding the “development road” project that connects Iraq to Europe via Turkish territory, and that Abu Dhabi and Doha are also participating in it.
In his recent statements, Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Oraloglu said that the expected quadripartite summit between the aforementioned countries will be held during the next two months.
Regarding the memorandum of understanding recently signed regarding the same project between the four countries in Baghdad, the Turkish minister said, “This was a bilateral agreement, but with Turkish and Iraqi efforts that also included the UAE and Qatar.”
Oraloglu added that weekly meetings take place between officials from both Türkiye and Iraq.
Regarding the steps to implement the project, Oraloglu stated that they will open offices in Iraq and Turkey within the framework of the project, in the coming months, noting that with the operation of the development road, the volume of trade will increase from 20 to 30 - 40 billion dollars.
A few days ago, Turkey, Iraq, Qatar, and the UAE signed in Baghdad a four-way memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the “Development Road” project, in the presence of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani.
