On Sunday, State of Law Coalition spokesman, MP Aqeel Al-Fatlawi, revealed a political agreement to resolve the crisis in electing the Speaker of the House of Representatives at the end of the current legislative term.

Al-Fatlawi told Al-Maalouma, “The political forces gave the Sunni political forces a large amount of time to resolve an agreement on a candidate for the position of Speaker of Parliament, but no agreement was reached, which led to the continuation of the constitutional vacuum.”
He added, "The political forces agreed that the session to elect the Speaker of the House of Representatives would be held before the end of the current legislative term."
The leader of the Hazm Dhari Al-Dulaimi coalition confirmed to Al-Maalouma last Thursday that the Azm and Hasm Sovereignty coalitions are still clinging to their candidates for the position and closing all doors to Al-Halbousi, while he suggested that the session to elect a speaker of the council be moved to the next legislative term, since the current term only has a few days remaining.
