Iran has long been blaming the United States and the "outside powers" for any problem the country has faced over the years. However, recent weeks have seen a shift in attitudes of Iranians tired of difficult economic conditions and corruption, shouting "Death to Khamenei" and "Death to the dictator "He said.
The Azadi stadium in Tehran was chanted by thousands of young people during a match between the independence teams from Teheran and Traktor Sazi from Tabriz, where they said "Death to the dictator".
"Iran is trying to say that Trump is behind all our misery, but it is only Khamenei who is to blame," said Murad, a 45-year-old electrician and father of three.
"People look at some of the majestic homes, villas and lifestyle of a minority at the top of society, and wonder how they managed to get all this, while most people suffer from extreme poverty," the British Telegraph reported.
Murad decided to join the demonstrations for the first time in his life, after his wages had fallen and his youngest son lost his job. "People no longer blame the president of a foreign country, they blame the leaders of this country."
The elite of the society leads the imported luxury cars and invest their wealth in gold when the country's most severe crises, while people struggle to get the basics of life.
Although new sanctions imposed by US President Donald Trump are blamed, the situation in Iran is already dire, given corruption problems in the country, an anarchic banking system, high unemployment after decades of mismanagement and government interference in regional affairs.
Most Iranians see American hostility as a fait accompli, so their frustration is directed at their rulers because they can not handle the situation better.
"Iran is a very rich country, but our government seems more concerned about other Iranians in the Arab world," said Murad, who declined to be named.
There is resentment in the country over how the government spends oil money, as Iran has plunged itself into the heart of costly wars and conflicts in Syria and Yemen.
This resentment was evident in the shouts of demonstrators shouting: "Not Gaza, not Lebanon ... sacrifice my life for Iran."
Analysts say the gap between the government and the Iranian people has become ever greater since 1979.
Many believe President Hassan Rowhani has failed to deliver on electoral promises on reforms, fighting corruption and graft.
The protests in Iran are still lacking, the preparation or organization seen in the last movement against the regime known as the "Green Revolution" in 2009, because the angry demonstrations that emerged in recent days, mostly working class, which can not The escalating cost of food and essential necessities of life, while the lower middle class remains, remains in homes.
But this could change as soon as the results of the recent sanctions, which target US dollar transactions, and trade with Iran in cars, precious metals, commercial aircraft, carpets and foodstuffs.
On Nov. 5, Iran will face a second wave of sanctions on the vital oil sector, as well as shipping and financial transactions.
Iran will suffer as a large part of its oil revenues fade, and Iranian banks are likely to find themselves cut off from much of the international banking system.
Commenting on the situation in Iran, Iranian political analyst Heshmat Alawi said: "With the rise of demonstrations across Iran and the protesters overcoming their concerns in the face of state authorities and security forces, the regime is facing a huge crisis on how to contain two serious domestic and foreign disasters. "If we pretend to change our government, we do it because we are fed up with it, not because it is the United States that we are fed up with," said
