    The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, condemned the pressures faced by Iraqi President Barham Saleh for his refusal to assign a new prime minister who was rejected by the street, calling for responding to the protesters' demands.

    Barzani said in a statement, "It seems that the President of the Republic, Mr. Barham Salih, is under great pressure, in contrast to the constitutional mechanisms and foundations, and here we stress that any solution must be based on the constitution and in accordance with legal contexts."

    "To choose a national and non-controversial candidate for prime minister who is acceptable to the influential forces, we must take into account the legitimate demands of the demonstrators, the conditions and interests of the country when choosing it, and provide assistance to the next government for the purpose of passing the next transitional period and preparing for new elections," Barzani added.

    Barzani expressed his concern over the escalating events in the country, saying, "We follow with great concern and closely the conditions and developments of Iraq, which is suffering a deep crisis."

    He continued, "While the threat of instability and further complicating the situation threatens to move towards an unknown future, it is incumbent upon everyone to deal with the situation with understanding, in a national spirit, with responsibility and away from political pressure to pass the stage in accordance with constitutional contexts."
