Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met with Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar today, Saturday, on the sidelines of the 58th Munich International Security Conference, held in the German city of Munich.
According to a statement received by Mawazine News, the two sides discussed the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two neighboring countries and ways to advance them, in addition to a number of files of common interest, and a review of the regional and international situation.
According to the statement, Hussein stressed the importance of the neighboring countries' respect for Iraq's sovereignty, pointing to the belief in the principles of the Iraqi constitution, which show Iraq's keenness to establish the best friendly relations with countries and to solve problems through dialogue and negotiations, and not to allow any party to make Iraq a launching pad for aggression against neighboring countries. Stressing the importance of Iraq's stability, which is fundamental to the stability of the region.
For his part, the Turkish Defense Minister pointed to the importance of joint security cooperation with Iraq, explaining that Turkey believes in Iraq's stability and sovereignty, and noted the distinguished relations between the two parties and the common will of officials of the two countries to develop them.
