The Parliament’s Electricity and Energy Committee confirmed, on Tuesday, that there is no point in connecting electricity with other countries, and that it causes them to lose a lot of money.
Committee member Suhaila Al-Sultani said, "Investment is not an easy process in the country, as it needs many reviews, and represents one of the obstacles facing ministries or the Investment Authority."
Al-Sultani added, "The electrical connection agreements need to adopt transmission lines with certain specifications, and these are not available within the country, and therefore the project must be implemented through a company."
She pointed to "the futility of the electrical connection, whether with Saudi Arabia or other countries, because it only leads to energy stability and prevents the electrical system from collapsing, and then dispensing with it," indicating that "purchasing energy through the electrical connection is completely useless and causes the state to lose money." big".
