    Today, Wednesday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani directed the formation of a committee to reconsider the draft Federal Supreme Court law that the government had previously prepared in 2015 and referred it to the House of Representatives.

The committee has completed its work and developed a draft of the project, and its president conducted a series of discussions and deliberations regarding the main principles contained therein with the relevant authorities, represented by both the President of the Republic and the President of the Republic.     He added, “The government has sought, through the draft law, to reconsider some of the issues and texts that were subject to objection to the draft law in previous parliamentary sessions, and it has been improved from both the formal and substantive aspects, in order to remove the previous causes of disagreement, and to confirm the government’s support for the independence of the judiciary.” And in compliance with the Constitution, which granted more powers to the Federal Supreme Court than it currently enjoys under its current Law No. 30 of 2005, as amended.”

    The statement stressed, “The government is determined to deliberate with all national political forces on the new draft of the draft law, in a way that ensures the completion of the construction of constitutional institutions.”
