Integrity and Interior discuss preparing the requirements for the International Interpol Conference

The head of the Federal Integrity Commission, Haider Hanoun, discussed with the Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, the preparation and requirements for holding the international Interpol conference, which will be held in the capital, Baghdad.
A statement by the Ministry of Interior stated that Hanoun met with Al-Shammari, and during the meeting they stressed the importance of the conference scheduled to be held in the coming months. Because of Iraq's need for international support in extraditing those convicted of corruption cases for whom some countries provide safe havens, they pointed to the main topics that the conference could include, such as expanding areas of cooperation and discussing raising the level of investigation into financial crimes and involving anti-corruption agencies in it.
According to the statement, Hanoun and Al-Shammari called for “doubling cooperation and coordination between the Authority’s Recovery Department and the Arab and International Police Directorate in the Ministry of Interior, which in the past months led to facilitating the process of extraditing some of those wanted in cases of administrative and financial corruption who reside outside Iraq, and following up on international arrest warrants ( Red Notice) and search radio issued against them.
The statement continued, "During the meeting, emphasis was placed on intensifying cooperation between state institutions and regulatory bodies in the process of combating corruption and prosecuting its perpetrators, and the role of digital transformation and automation of institutions in reducing corruption, and alerting to the necessity of consolidating a culture of integrity, preserving public money, and spreading good morals and customs among members of society." And combating deviant behaviors, including stealing public money, trespassing on state property, and committing crimes of bribery, forgery, and fraud.”
