    The head of the Integrity Commission, Judge Haider Hanoun, announced on Friday that an international conference for Interpol would be held in Baghdad.
    A statement by the Federal Integrity Commission, seen by Al-Iqtisad News, stated that “Judge Haider Hanoun met with the head of Interpol, Major General Ahmed Al-Raisi, during his visit to the international headquarters of Interpol in the French city of Lyon, and during the meeting he stressed the need for all countries and regional and international organizations to cooperate in confronting corruption and prosecuting corruption.” perpetrators, and not providing a safe environment for them, urging Interpol to expand the scope of investigation for money crimes in general and corruption crimes in particular within its work and jurisdiction.”

    Hanoun warned - according to the statement - “the seriousness of the scourge of corruption and its threat to the foundations of democratic systems and its cause of the spread of poverty and the low level of health services and education,” pointing out that “drugs, human trafficking, human organs, pollution, and money laundering are all thriving in light of the spread of corruption in the world.” Pointing out that "cooperation and concerted efforts in combating corruption and extraditing wanted persons is in everyone's interest, because the effects of the corruption crime do not stop in a specific country."

    Hanoun added, "Iraq has fulfilled its international obligations stipulated in the United Nations Convention against Corruption, calling on the rest of the countries to cooperate bilaterally in accordance with what is stipulated in the chapters and articles of the agreement, in order to extradite wanted persons, especially since Iraq, at the current stage, enjoys the presence of a national government that has established the fight against corruption." Corruption is at the top of their list of priorities,” indicating, “States must activate the state of administrative handover, which is a state facilitated by handover compared to judicial handover.”

    He explained, "Some laws and legislation in some countries allow the government and some of its agencies to cooperate with Interpol and arrest the accused and hand him over to the requesting country," calling for "the involvement of Iraqi competencies in Interpol positions."

    Hanoun renewed his call for “the establishment of an international assets recovery court to be based on an international balance of justice that keeps it away from political goals and questioning recovery requests,” stressing that “the three sides of this triangle are based on the principle of where did you get this from, and addressing the difference in legislation and dual nationality, turning to the issue of Paying attention to financial investigations into crimes related to money and making corruption crimes specific, noting that “it was agreed to hold an international conference for Interpol in Baghdad in partnership with the Commission to expand means of cooperation and discuss raising the level of investigation into financial crimes and involving anti-corruption agencies in it.”

    The statement indicated, "The Iraqi delegation also included the Director General of the Authority's Recovery Department, the temporary Chargé d'Affairs in Switzerland, Muhammad Jawad Mahdi, and the Director General of the Arab and International Police Directorate in the Ministry of Interior, Major General Adel Ibrahim. He attended the conclusion of the conference of Interpol's regional offices, and reviewed some of the problems and difficulties in the file." recovery and promotion of red notices, which the members of the delegation expressed their hope to overcome through meetings and dialogues and to overcome them as quickly as possible,” pointing out that “all red notices for those most wanted for corruption crimes are based on legal and professional procedures,” warning that “the past year witnessed the empowerment of... Iraq recovered (18) people wanted in corruption cases, and issued nearly (100) red notices against those wanted in connection with corruption cases they committed and fled outside Iraq.”

    For his part, Major General Ahmed Al-Raisi, during the meeting attended by the Board of Trustees and the directors of the relevant committees of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), praised “Iraq’s efforts at the current stage in combating corruption,” warning that “the news that reaches us about Iraqi integrity efforts gives hope.” By curbing the phenomenon of corruption, which will reflect on attracting investments and dedication to achieving development,” warning that “every country where corruption is widespread, weakness creeps into its strength, structure, and foundations of its existence,” pointing out that “some countries are actively seeking to issue bulletins against those wanted, but they are reluctant to do so.” Follow up with Interpol International and fail to send recovery files and answer some of Interpol’s inquiries and questions.”

    It is noteworthy that the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) is an international organization that was established; In order to facilitate police cooperation around the world, combat crime, and implement red notices against wanted persons at border crossings in various parts of the world.
