The Criminal Court of Babel on Monday sentenced a 10-year prison term to an employee of the county's real estate registration department who was conducting fraud.
"The second body of the Criminal Court of Babel sentenced a member of the Real Estate Registration Department to 10 years in prison," Judge Abdul Sattar Birqdar, spokesman for the Supreme Judicial Council, said in a statement.
Berkdar added that "the accused confessed to forgery of real estate transactions to transfer properties belonging to the municipality of Hilla to others illegally," pointing out that "the verdict came on the basis of the provisions of Article 289 of the Iraqi Penal Code."
