TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran's deputy mayor of Khorramshahr and Laila Hayati denied Saturday the closure of the Shalamjah border crossing in southwestern Iran due to recent unrest in the southern Iraqi city of Basra.
"The closure of the port of Shalmajh border because of the unrest in the Iraqi city of Basra is a lie and common and this port is still open," Hayati said in an interview with Fares.
"The port of Shalamja border has full security and a problem in the movement of Iraqi nationals," Hayati said.
He continued: "As of Saturday, the export activities of goods will take place naturally through the port of Chalmaj and the problem of Iraqi and Iranian businessmen in the use of this border port." Ending /
