Planning awaits a decision that requires a population census and determines its financial costs

Today, Wednesday, the Ministry of Planning revealed a government movement that requires the implementation of the population census during the year 2022, while setting the initial costs for conducting the census.
The technical representative of the Ministry of Planning, Maher Hammad, said in an interview with the Iraqi News Agency, and followed by "Economy News", that "the general census of the population was supposed to be from last year, as there were problems related to two tracks, namely the budget law and the health crisis," stressing "to move forward." census procedures.
He added, "The ministry proceeded to implement the population census during the current year, but the 2021 budget was delayed, and the House of Representatives raised many paragraphs to finance this census."
He pointed out that "the Ministry of Planning and the Council of Ministers are insisting on issuing a decision requiring that the next year be 2022 to implement the census," noting that "the basic details of the initial costs may reach about 120 to 150 billion dinars, which is not a large number compared to the outputs of this census." Census".
