The Council of Ministers issues a number of decisions to end the electricity crisis

, the Council of Ministers agreed, in its regular session, which was held yesterday, Tuesday, under the chairmanship of the Council's Speaker, Muhammad Shia'a Al-Sudani, to reduce the price of gas oil (kerosene) supplied to private generators to 250 dinars per liter. The statement of the media office of the Prime Minister added that the council also agreed that the Ministry of Oil would purchase quantities of gas from the production of the Kormor field in the Kurdistan region.
The Council of Ministers approved the sale by the Ministry of Oil of quantities of crude oil and black oil to the Islamic Republic of Iran, equivalent to the value of supplying gas and purchasing electric energy deposited in the account of Iranian companies in Iraqi banks, and that the Ministry of Oil would exchange a quantity of crude oil, oil and black oil for gas imported from the Islamic Republic. Iranian, and according to the allocations contained in the Federal Budget Law for the fiscal years (2025, 2024, 2023) for the aforementioned purpose.
The Council authorized the Oil Marketing Company to set up the necessary marketing and contractual mechanism to implement the above, to sign contracts with companies nominated by the Iranian side as an exception to the controls and instructions approved by the National Oil Marketing Company (SOMO).
The Prime Minister directed, according to the statement, to form a joint committee from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Interior, the National Operations Center, and the Joint Operations Command, to develop a specific and clear mechanism for the movement of all ambassadors accredited to Iraq and their activity inside the country.
The Council of Ministers approved the issuance of the Iraq Development Fund system, based on the provisions of the constitution, and to facilitate the implementation of Article 42 of the General Budget Law for the years (2023-2024-2025).
In the context of supporting the national arms industry, the Cabinet voted not to approve a draft law disengaging the General Company for Copper and Mechanical Industries from the Military Industrialization Authority, and attaching it to the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, and decided to form a committee from the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers and the Military Industrialization Authority, to determine the factories Of a civil and military nature. In the energy file, the Council approved the entry into force of a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Oil in the Republic of Iraq and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan signed on May 4, 2023. The statement continued that the Council agreed to allocate an amount of 2 billion dinars to the Ministry of Finance
, to the Iraqi Artists Syndicate; To meet the expenses of the Baghdad Arab Film Festival.
The Council decided to amend its decision No. (216 of 2022), to allocate an amount of 10 billion dinars to the Ministry of Interior, to build border posts on the Iraqi-Iranian border, within the Kurdistan region, to prevent infiltration and smuggling, and the posts on the Iraqi-Turkish border will be completed, after the approval of the general budget of previous assignment. The Council also agreed to amend the Council of Ministers Resolution (216 of 2014) regarding resolving the issue of Imam Jaafar Al-Sadiq University (peace be upon him) to become according to the following:
- Approval of the lease of the two plots numbered (3/478 and 3/479) Al-Waziriya District, owned by the Ministry of Communications, and on which Imam Al-Sadiq University (peace be upon him) is built, to the aforementioned university, as an exception to public bidding procedures, and based on the provisions of the Sale Law State money rent (21 of 2013 as amended), and State Council Resolution No. 105 of 2017, provided that the Ministry of Finance sells the buildings it owns on the two plots mentioned in Paragraph (1) mentioned above to the General Company for Communications and Informatics, affiliated to the Ministry of Communications, or Administrative expropriation in accordance with the provisions of the amended Expropriation Law No. (12) of 1981.
