    The Joint Financial Oversight Committee finished auditing Kurdistan Region oil data (its revenues and expenditures) during the first half of the current year 2023. It is expected to issue its final report today, Monday, after completing its duties last night.

    The Director of Economic Affairs and Contracts at the Ministry of Natural Resources in the Kurdistan Region, Ghazal Abdullah, confirmed that it was the first time that the federal government audited the data of the region's oil revenues and expenditures, as it considered it an important matter for transparency, pointing out that they provided the facilities to the Monitoring Committee.

    She added that the audits are for the first six months of this year, as a similar audit is scheduled for the period between 2023 and 2024.

    According to the agreement concluded between Erbil and Baghdad, the federal government will conduct a seasonally auditing of the region's oil revenues and expenditures every three months.

    An audit of the region's non-oil revenues began, coinciding with the audit of oil revenues and expenditure data, provided that a joint committee consisting of 30 members from Erbil and Baghdad undertakes the task.

    And the Kurdistan Regional Government instructed all ministries, in cooperation with the Financial Control Committee, to complete the auditing of the region's revenue and expenditure data, which it started on the 8th of August.

    The task of the joint committee, consisting of the financial control offices in the region and Iraq, "will be to audit the region's revenue and expenditure data, which the government provided in the budget."
