    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani expressed during his reception, this evening, Sunday (September 17, 2023), the Indian Ambassador to Iraq, Prashant Bissai, “the depth of the historical relations between Iraq and India, which maintain many commonalities and opportunities for cooperation in all fields.”
Al-Sudani confirmed, according to a statement from his office received by “Baghdad Today,” that “the government is in the process of implementing strategic projects, foremost of which is the path of development, calling on Indian companies to contribute by investing in Iraq,” noting “the need to benefit from Indian experience in the field of electronic payment and in building and operating hospitals.”
For his part, Ambassador Bissai stressed the importance of Iraq in being one of its largest suppliers, represented by India’s import of Iraqi oil worth $34 billion over the past year, in addition to being India’s seventh trading partner, expressing the desire of his country’s companies to participate in projects in Iraq, most notably sector projects. "healthy."
It is noteworthy that in this meeting, India and Saudi Arabia will sign on September 9, with the participation of the United States, the Emirates, France, Germany, Italy and the European Union, a memorandum of understanding to establish a green economic corridor between India, the Middle East and Europe, on the sidelines of the activities of the G20 summit that was held last week in India.
The project experts considered it a competitor to the development road project, which starts from the port of Al-Faw and Turkey to Europe, but Baghdad confirmed that its path is the “shortest, best and fastest” in linking Asian countries to Europe.
