The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, confirmed today, Saturday, that the interest of Iraq and keeping the country away from war are among the fundamentals of the government’s work.
Hussein said, in a speech during the activities of the Seventh Ambassadors’ Conference at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, followed by Mawazine News, that “there are risks that threaten the region with war,” stressing that “the interest of Iraq and keeping the country away from war are among the fundamentals of the government’s work.”
He added, "The government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are responsible for Iraq's foreign policy," noting that "the government has made strengthening relations with neighboring countries one of its priorities."
He stressed that "without openness to the Arab and regional environment, it is not possible to build a sound democracy," adding: "Our foreign policy takes into account the rapid development of India and China."
He pointed out that "many foreign consular offices were opened in the governorates, and consular services were expanded at home and abroad," noting that "4,000 Iraqi citizens were returned from Belarus and saved from death."
He stressed "the necessity of working with influential countries to stop the Zionist aggression against the Gaza Strip and the necessity of lifting the siege on it, and emphasizing Iraq's firm position on the Palestinian issue and the right to self-determination for the Palestinian people."
