Baghdad forms committees to monitor the installation of meters on generators

Baghdad Governorate is working to form committees of administrative units and selectors to monitor the process of installing electronic meters on government and private generators, at a time when some generator contractors have threatened to stop operation, describing the installation decision as unfair.
The governor, engineer, Muhammad Jaber Al-Atta, told “Al-Sabah”: The decision to install electric meters on generators aims to determine operating hours and collect amounts at the end of the month according to the subscriber’s consumption, instead of collecting them from the citizen in the form of monthly lump sums, pointing out that the governorate chose The month of October is to implement the decision, as it witnesses an increase in the operating hours of national electricity to reach 22 hours a day or more due to climate moderation, and therefore it is considered an experimental period that will not constitute a burden on the electricity departments or generator contractors. In the same context, Al-Atta stated that there is a problem that the citizen suffers from, represented by the generator contractors’ insistence on receiving the full collection amounts even when there is no need for their generators, as a result of the increase in the hours of national electricity supply, which causes clear complaints from the citizens, warning that the aforementioned meters will solve the problem. completely.
Al-Atta explained that these electronic meters cannot be tampered with, especially since the governorate will form committees from administrative units, selectmen, and security authorities to monitor the data related to them, and the owner of the generator will not be relied upon in this regard, indicating that the data will be returned to the governorate by the aforementioned committees so that processing times can be viewed. National electricity, generators, and the consumption percentage recorded in each meter. The governor warned that the contractors who threatened not to operate in objection to the decision constitute only 10 percent of the total operators, adding that they are not fundamentally committed to the monthly operating decisions issued by the governorate, and therefore the governorate will hold accountable any generator owner who does not abide by its decisions, and will remove the generator. Or file lawsuits against him, especially since the governorate, in coordination with the Ministry of Oil, began distributing fixed monthly fuel rations to them last July, at 40 liters (cv) for each person.
