The government, as part of its measures to combat corruption, launched a number of investigative committees to investigate the reasons for the delay and stagnation of projects in order to hold negligent parties accountable, while it obligated all its institutions to submit their financial statements at the end of March every year.
Advisor to the Prime Minister for Oversight and Integrity Affairs, Muayyad Ali Abdul Hussein, said during the European Union’s celebration of International Anti-Corruption Day, attended by “Al-Sabah”: The government worked to count, study and analyze all the lagging projects in Baghdad and the governorates, pointing to the formation of a committee to hold those proven to be negligent accountable and address the lagging projects. And expedite their completion, especially hospitals in the capital, Baghdad.
He added that there is a committee formed for tax reform to prepare a draft law that addresses the legislation and gaps that the private sector suffers from, in addition to obligating all government institutions to submit their financial statements at the end of March of each year to the Financial Supervision Bureau, and not delaying them during approval, in addition to tightening oversight in the event of Any defect, embezzlement or financial problem can be solved.
Abdul Hussein continued that among the supervisory procedures is the formation of teams to evaluate and classify contracts concluded between the public and private sectors, most of which were marred by corruption, noting that some contracts need simple observations to overcome the problem and continue the contract, while others need to be completely annulled because their continuation harms money. General.
The Prime Minister's Advisor for Oversight and Integrity Affairs revealed the formation of a team from the Integrity Commission and the Financial Supervision Bureau to audit all state real estate, remove the violations if they exist, restore them for management by the competent institution, and hold accountable those who caused this.
