The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, confirmed today, Monday, Iraq’s keenness to join the World Trade Organization by achieving the required trade and economic standards.
The Presidency’s media office stated in a statement received by Mawazine News that “His Excellency the President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received today, Monday, January 15, 2024, at Baghdad Palace, the Saudi ambassador to Iraq, Abdul Aziz Al-Shammari, and the representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the World Trade Organization, President The team concerned with Iraq’s accession to the WTO, Saqr al-Muqbel, and their accompanying delegation.”
He added, "At the beginning of the meeting, the Saudi ambassador conveyed the greetings of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the President and their wishes for the Iraqi people for further progress and prosperity, while His Excellency the Ambassador conveyed his greetings to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques."
