[size=45]The Acting Representative of Iraq to the United Nations, Abbas Kadhim Obaid, confirmed that Iraq warned against expanding the conflict in the region.[/size]
[size=45]Obaid said in his speech before the UN Security Council, “We reject any attack on Iraqi territory under false pretexts,” pointing out that “these attacks constitute a serious threat to Iraq’s security and sovereignty.”[/size]
[size=45]He added, "Iraq warned of the expansion of the conflict in the region," noting that "the Iraqi government continues to pursue balanced relations with its regional surroundings."[/size]
[size=45]He pointed out that “Iraq seeks to be a factor of stability in its regional and international environment,” stressing that “Iraq was able to bring viewpoints closer together in the region.”[/size]
[size=45]He continued, “Iraq rejects all forms of attacks targeting military bases,” noting that “We will not allow Iraq to be dragged into the arena of conflict that the region is witnessing.”[/size]
[size=45]He stated that “Iraq cannot be an arena for settling scores,” noting that “Iraq strongly condemns the American strikes that targeted Iraqi military sites.[/size]
