    Baghdad today - Baghdad
Today, Tuesday (February 6, 2024), the Acting Representative of Iraq to the United Nations, Abbas Kazem Obaid, submitted a complaint to the UN Security Council against Turkey, Iran, and America for repeatedly targeting the security and sovereignty of Iraq.
Obaid said in his speech during the UN Security Council meeting, which was followed by “Baghdad Today”: “We reject attacks on our lands from any party,” stressing that “the attacks are a violation of Iraq’s sovereignty and a threat to its security and stability.”
He added, "Iraq will not allow any party to destabilize its security and stability," noting that "the security services continue their work in pursuing terrorism and are keen to combat drugs and dry up their sources."
He continued, "The government continues its work to implement the components of its government program that it pledged," indicating that "the government is working to reduce poverty and unemployment rates and continues to implement development projects."
The Chargé d'Affairs called for "stopping the war on Gaza and bringing in humanitarian aid. We warn of the danger of expanding the conflict."
Earlier today, the UN Security Council held its session on the situation in Iraq.
This morning, the United Nations Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) announced that the UN Security Council will hold a session on the situation in Iraq.
The mission stated in a blog post followed by “Baghdad Today”, that “the United Nations Security Council will hold a session today at 10 am New York time (6:00 pm Baghdad time) on the situation in Iraq.”
