The Ministry of Transport announced that the coming days will witness Salah al-Din joining the five governorates that signed the minutes approving the route of the “Development Road” project, while launching a parallel plan to develop and rehabilitate the railway lines of the northern governorates.
Director of the Ministry’s Media Office, Maitham Al-Safi, said in a statement to “Al-Sabah”: The cadres of his Ministry are continuing soil investigation procedures for the development road project in Salah al-Din Governorate to take models and analyze them, expressing his hope that the coming days will witness the signing of a joint report with its local government regarding the path of the development road project with two railway sections. Al-Hadid and the land highway, making it the sixth governorate after Al-Najaf Al-Ashraf, Dhi Qar, Al-Anbar, Diwaniyah, and Al-Muthanna.
He stated that his ministry has come a long way in fulfilling the requirements of the Development Road Project with the support of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, as it represents the economic gateway to the country that is open to the world and connects the East and the West, indicating that the project holds promising investment opportunities for investors of different nationalities who have expressed a lot. Among them is his desire to implement the steps of the project and participate in it.
Al-Safi stated that his ministry is still studying the offers submitted to it by local, Arab and foreign companies wishing to implement the project, and it is currently in an advanced stage to reach the companies that will be selected to implement the Development Road Project, noting that in conjunction with the steps to implement the Development Road Project, the Ministry has prepared an integrated plan to activate and restore Rehabilitation of all railway lines in the northern region, which includes Kirkuk and Nineveh Governorates, all the way to the Fish Khabour road with the Turkish border.
