Parliamentary regions demand the creation of new governorates

called on the Parliamentary Regions and Governorates Committee to create new governorates to reduce population growth and develop the governorates according to the standards of the Ministry of Planning.
The Vice Chairman of the Committee, Jawad Al-Yassari, said in an interview with “Al-Sabah”: “The Parliamentary Regions and Governorates Committee is discussing a set of laws, the first of which is the Halabja Governorate Law, which is on the Council’s agenda. It was read for the second time, but the law stopped due to defining the administrative boundaries between the governorates.” ".
Al-Yasari expressed the committee’s hope to “create new governorates in order to develop them and reduce the momentum on the large governorates,” noting that “many city districts are eligible to be transformed into governorates, including (Salah al-Din, Nineveh, Anbar, Wasit, and Nasiriyah governorates) due to their large area and ease of demarcation.” The borders therein.”
The committee member also demanded that “some areas be transformed into districts, and new ones be created according to the standards of the Ministry of Planning, noting that any village with a population of 30,000 must be transformed into a district in order to have a district director and provide all service institutions,” pointing out that “ In many areas, the number of people exceeded 50,000, and others 200,000, and it is still in its current state.”
He pointed out that "there are calls to create new governorates on the outskirts of Nineveh and Fallujah in Anbar, and these are administrative matters, not political, and we hope to cooperate to develop the governorates," pointing out that "the last governorate created in Iraq was in 1970."
He pointed out that “the administrative system for development is old and must be changed, and these standards were set by the Ministry of Planning and its paragraphs can be amended,” stressing the necessity of “developing new governorates to reduce population overcrowding and make room for comfortable, healthy and organized housing.”
