The Chairman of the Media and Communications Commission, Ali Al-Moayyed, discussed three files with the Director of Middle East Programs at the United States Institute of Peace, Sarhang Hama Saeed.
A statement by the Media and Communications Commission stated, “Chairman of the Media and Communications Commission, Ali Al-Moayyed, discussed in Washington, DC, with the Director of Middle East Programs at the United States Institute of Peace, Sarhang Hama Saeed, the support that the Institute can provide to local communities in Iraq.”
He pointed out, “During the meeting, which came on the sidelines of the 2024 World Bank Digital Summit held in Washington, joint projects that the Institute could undertake in Iraq to serve peace and stability among the components of one society were discussed.”
The statement added, “The two sides reviewed the efforts made by the Iraqi government, headed by Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, to confront all manifestations of terrorism or any attempts that seek to destabilize the internal stability of the country.”
He continued, "The importance of providing support, training, and strategic studies that help promote reconciliation and contribute to strengthening the efforts that can be made by the parties and all supporting parties to remove and treat the remnants of ISIS and other terrorist groups was emphasized."
It is noteworthy that the United States Institute of Peace is one of the institutes that was established by the US Congress in 1984 and is headquartered in Washington, D.C. It works to resolve international conflicts, promote stability and development, and build peace in local communities engaged in violent conflicts.
