The Association of Iraqi Private Banks confirmed that a defect struck the communication network of one of the electronic payment companies, which led to the cessation of its services today for only 35 minutes.
The association said in a press release received by Al-Iqtisad News that the temporary suspension of one of the electronic payment companies yesterday, Wednesday, was due to a communications network outage for 20 minutes in the morning from 9:08 to 9:28, and the second outage was for 15 minutes from 5 p.m. to 5: 15 p.m., indicating that the problem was quickly addressed, and service returned to normal, even though it is unintended and occurs all over the world because it is the result of a technical glitch.
The Association of Private Banks confirmed that electronic payment companies are committed to all directives of the Central Bank and government initiatives to improve electronic payment service in Iraq, calling on citizens to contact the company providing the service in the event of any technical glitch in order to address the problem.
The association concluded its talk by saying that electronic payment is witnessing a growth in use by citizens, and has become widespread in most state institutions as well as the main commercial centers in Baghdad and the governorates because of the great positives it contains.
