Despite the restrictive immigration measures taken by the US administration, especially on the border with Mexico, the number of migrants per month, through the country's southwestern border, has set a new record.
"The number of migrant families crossing the South-West border on a monthly basis has doubled compared to last year, indicating that Trump's policies have not limited immigration to the United States," The New York Times reported in a news release.
"The 76,000 immigrants crossed the US border without a permit last February, the highest level in 11 years, and a sign of the opposite result of the current US immigration procedures," she said.
"Although the shelters on the border with Mexico are mostly filled with families of migrants, others are still flocking on the border, sometimes by bus, at a rate of 2,200 people a day," she said.
US President Donald Trump has taken advantage of growing numbers of immigrants to justify his plan to build a 3,000-kilometer-long wall on the US border with Mexico, but most analysts doubt his worth to prevent immigration. Ending / 25 z
