The Ministry of Agriculture revealed the audit and completion of 12 transactions related to the establishment of new cities within Baghdad and the governorates, with the aim of addressing the problem of the housing crisis in all governorates.
The Director General of the Ministry’s Agricultural Lands Department, Ali Hammoud Al-Shammari, said in a statement to “Al-Sabah”: A working team has been formed that includes a number of ministries, headed by the Ministers of Construction and Agriculture, and its mission revolves around establishing new cities to address the problem of the housing crisis in Baghdad and all governorates, revealing the achievement of his department. 12 transactions related to this, while continuing to periodically audit and complete the transactions of other cities in the governorates.
He added that the hand of agricultural reform had been raised by his department for those cities, confirming the start of the establishment of three cities, two in Baghdad, which is Ali al-Wardi in the Nahrawan district, with an area of 24 thousand dunams, and will include 120,000 housing units, while the second, Al-Jawahiri, is located in the Abu Ghraib district, with an area of 7,121. dunams, and includes 30,000 various housing units, and ten thousand serviced residential plots of land. As for the third city, Al-Ghazlani, it is located in the city of Mosul in Nineveh Governorate, and its construction will begin soon by three reputable companies.
Al-Shammari revealed the intention to establish other cities in the governorates and present them as investment opportunities after completing the procedures for inventorying and sorting the lands and resolving ownership disputes between the Ministries of Finance and Municipalities, including banks in Holy Karbala, Al-Janayn in Babylon, New Fallujah and New Habbaniyah in Anbar Governorate, as well as other cities in the Basra and Diwaniyah governorates. Al-Muthanna, Salah al-Din, Nineveh, Dhi Qar, Maysan, and Najaf al-Ashraf.
He noted that all the lands are located outside the basic city designs, and therefore they need treatment to remove the hands of agricultural reform to create cities on them and transfer their ownership from the Ministry of Finance to municipal institutions, indicating that transactions are currently being completed for the remaining governorates in cooperation with the agricultural directorates to present them as investment opportunities in order to create them. .
