    Information/Baghdad…
Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani announced today, Wednesday, the start of the second package of projects to relieve traffic congestion in Baghdad.
The Prime Minister's media office stated in a statement received by Al-Maalouma Agency, that "Al-Sudani inaugurated the Rashid Camp-Zafaraniya intersection tunnel and bridge project, one of the projects to relieve traffic congestion in the capital, Baghdad/first phase," adding that "he also inaugurated the stone cladding project for the left side of the Tigris River adjacent to Sinbad Road, which is one of the projects of the Ministry of Water Resources, with a length of 2.1 km."
The office explained that "the Rashid Camp-Zafaraniya intersection project includes the construction of a bridge linking the New Baghdad Road with Rashid Camp and the Zaafaraniya area. The bridge is (900) m long and 9.5 m wide. As for the tunnel, it links the southeast of the Rashid Camp and Zaafaraniya road with the northwest in the (Karrada) area. Its length is (430) m. The tunnel includes two lanes for going and returning, each with a width of 10 m, with the implementation of a median island."
Al-Sudani, in a speech during the opening, according to the statement, "appreciated the efforts of the staff of the Ministries of Construction and Housing, Municipalities, and Water Resources in achieving these two accomplishments, and the supporting bodies from the Baghdad Municipality, the Traffic Directorate, the follow-up team, and all the sectoral bodies. He also thanked the company implementing the project."
The Prime Minister congratulated the people of Baghdad on the "opening of the Rashid Camp-Zafaraniya intersection bridge, expressing his thanks for their endurance of the congestion throughout the implementation period," stressing "the continuation of work day and night to implement the rest of the government program projects."
Al-Sudani added that "the bottleneck relief projects provided solutions in facilitating transportation routes, and gave an aesthetic aspect to the capital, Baghdad. They also created a generation of engineers who worked on these projects with their technical and architectural precision, which will qualify them to complete new projects in the future."
He explained that "the Rashid Camp-Zafaraniya intersection project is the ninth project of the first package of traffic congestion relief projects, which totals (16) projects, and the second project was implemented by the Ministry of Water Resources, by stone cladding the left side of the Tigris River, extending alongside Sinbad Road," noting that "we started with the second package of traffic congestion relief projects in the capital, Baghdad, and that the Zaafaraniya intersection project, with its components of the bridge, tunnel and other details, is one of the complex urban projects, and requires high technical precision in implementation."
Al-Sudani pointed out that "the project took time to remove conflicts and technical problems in a crowded area where services overlap, and the technical team suffered greatly to complete the task. The project was completed and smoothness and ease of movement were achieved for citizens in this important and vital area of Baghdad."
He stated that "Sindbad Road was closed for decades, and the government is always looking for solutions to the most important problems, especially those related to transportation and movement, as the Tigris banks cladding project was implemented by the Ministry of Water Resources staff, with national effort and a low cost compared to the quality of this project," indicating that "service projects will continue, and this is the course of our government's work, and our goal is to show the capital, and all our governorates, in the most beautiful and best image, and we are working to make the image of the capital and the cities of Iraq complete in terms of infrastructure projects, and provide an attraction factor for all economic, social and recreational activities."
