The Ministry of Construction, Housing, Municipalities and Public Works announced the launch date of the second package of projects to relieve traffic congestion in Baghdad, while revealing the imminent start of work on the fourth ring road around the capital.
The ministry’s spokesman, Istabraq Sabah, said in an interview followed by Mawazine News: “The date of launching the second package of projects to relieve traffic congestion will coincide with the opening of a number of projects in the first package,” attributing this to “avoiding increased confusion and traffic congestion that Baghdad is witnessing.” . He revealed that "work on the fourth ring road around Baghdad Governorate is close to being launched, as this year will witness the opening of a number of projects of the first package, such as the Al-Shaljiya Bridge in Al-Karkh, in addition to projects on the Rusafa side, such as a bridge linking the Al-Muhandiseen neighborhood on Palestine Street to the Al-Dakhil area in Sadr City, and the opening will come after that." Aden and Sanaa Square projects, the latest of which is the Nisour Square Bridge.”
